For Medium Duty Protection I got this lock for when I go to the less safe neighborhoods. I live in an area where bike theft during the day is almost non-existent thankfully, so I carry around my 8mm walmart variety lock. Its enough to deter the average person from just walking off with your bike.The M8 lock is much better. Its 5/8″ thick, which is right around 16mm. BETTER THEFT DETERANT CABLE I bought this for the 5/8″ thick cable, this is for a secondary bike. The last lock I had like this in the 11-12 dollar range with the next size thinner cable -my bike was stolen. They had to WORK HARD twisting the bolt cutter back and forth because all the smaller wires were all splayed outwards.
